Design - Guide to Preparing Artwork
|
You can specify where your private watermark appears on the sheet. Show here are seven placement choices, base on an 8.25" x 11.75" (A4 size) finished trim size. The size of the mark will affect how many times it can be repeated.
-
Wire width (approximately 1/16").
-
Wire watermarks:
the thickness of a line should be no more than 2" to 2.5" wire widths.
-
Shaded watermarks:
the thickness of a line should be at least 2 wire widths.
-
Wire watermarks: lines should be spaced no closer than 3/32".
-
Shaded watermarks: lines should be no closer than 1/8".
Serif vs Sans Serif
Sans serif type reproduces with the highest clarity at small sizes. Serif type, type with varying line widths and condensed lettering are best used in large sizes - at least 1/4" high.
Extremely Condensed Type
Extremely condensed type should be avoided. A's, E's, M's and O's will not read.
Outlined Type
The lines of outline type or double line accenting should be no closer than 1/8".
Points and corners will be rounded slightly in the manufacture of the watermark.
Fine detail, such as background dots or stripes will tend to plug. Simple shapes reproduce best.

Color, Weight and Finish of Paper
. |
The color, weight and finish of the paper will affect the look of the watermark. Both wire and shaded marks reproduce with the highest clarity on lighter colored, lighter weight papers. The finish of the paper will also affect the look of the watermark.
