MOHAWK VELLUM & SATIN RECYCLED GRADE
Mohawk Vellum and Satin have always been the choice for designers who value utility and beauty. Together they provide one of the most versatile paper lines on the market today. Thanks to their excellent formation, silky-smooth Mohawk Satin and lush Mohawk Vellum provide printing surfaces that can make anything look great, no matter what the budget is. Few papers on the market offer the extensive range of basis weights, colors, or sizes that you'll find in Mohawk Satin and Vellum. And everything is 30% recycled. Best of all, the extraordinary opacity and great printability of Satin and Vellum mean you can substitute lower basis weights and still end up with a great looking job. Versatility is creative power. That's what Mohawk Satin and Vellum offer you, paper you can use for books and newsletters, annual reports and business reply cards, four color, black and white, high end, low end and everything in between. Life is too short to accept limitations. Now you don't have to. Just specify Mohawk Satin and Vellum.
Good, well-planned color separations are crucial for successful printing on uncoated paper. To compensate for dot gain on press it is necessary to "open" the separations by reducing the dot size to varying percentages for highlights, midtones and shadows. This permits finer line screens and higher ink intensities, which yield truer color, more details and smoother solids.
Corrected separations also allow the printer to run more ink, which compensates for dry back, and apply more squeeze, which forces the ink into the fine texture of the paper surface for better coverage.
The percentages used to open up the separations are determined by the original image, the experience of the printer, the printer's equipment, the ink, and the paper. Not all papers have the same ink holdout characteristics, but the ink levels of Mohawk's uncoated papers are exceptional.
Let the printer know your paper specification before the press-work is started. Pre-press is important prior to actual run.
